Line Cook (Avon and Farmington)

Job Type: Full-time or part-time

Wage: Hourly, DOE

Truffles is looking for experienced professionals to join our busy kitchen team in both Avon and Farmington!  Prior catering experience is a plus, but not required.  We love friendly, motivted, inspired, creative, hard-working people in our kitchens!  AVAILABLE SHIFTS IN BOTH AVON AND FARMINGTON:  MONDAY-SATURDAY 10AM-6PM; SUNDAY 7AM-3PM.  OPPORTUNITIES TO WORK ON OUR FOOD TRUCK AS WELL!  BOTH PART-TIME AND FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE.

Responsibilities:

  • Thorough knowledge of menu items, preparing hot/cold sandwiches and wraps; brunch on weekends.
  • Setting up kitchen line.
  • Preparation of pasta salads, chicken and tuna salads, etc.
  • Assist in preparation of catering orders, as needed.
  • Prep for next days’ soups, items for the line, following prep lists to ensure kitchen is ready for the next day.
  • Demonsrate culinary expertise and ability to make delicious food, taking pride in their work.
  • Adherence to sanitation and food safety handling procedures at ALL times, as required by FVHD.
  • Working together to keep our kitchen and storage areas clean and organized, minimizing waste.

Skill Requirements:

  • Minimum of two years cooking experience.
  • Excellent knife skills.
  • Experience in working a breakfast/brunch line a plus.
  • Creative, eager to use imagination in creating high-quality food.
  • Ability to follow recipes where required.
  • Possess a vision for quality and a passion for food.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Work well in a small kitchen with fast-paced environment.
  • Catering experience a plus.
  • Preparation of items efficiently and consistently.

Sales Staff

Job Type: Full-time or part-time

Truffles Bakery is looking for CHEERFUL and OUTGOING counterhelp for various shifts, part-time and full-time, for all days, Monday through Sunday.

Hours are flexible, and applicants may apply for any number of shifts. These shifts are ideal for someone who wants to work anywhere from three to five days per week. AVAILABLE SHIFTS:  MONDAY-FRIDAY 10AM-3PM, 10AM-6PM, 3PM-6PM; SATURDAY 12PM-6PM, 2PM-6PM; SUNDAY 9AM-3PM.  BOTH PART-TIME AND FULL-TIME POSITIONS AVAILABLE.

OUR SALES STAFF POSITIONS ARE GREAT FOR:

  • High school students after school and on weekends
  • College students during any hours between classes, studying and having fun
  • Parents with children in school - 10am-3pm shift is perfect - get the kids to school, come in to work for some "grown-up" time, and then head out to meet your kids after school!)

Responsibilities:

  • Assisting customers timely and professionally.
  • Answering the phone, taking catering and cake orders (we will train you on our procedures).

  • Assisting in organizing daily catering orders, deliveries, etc., ringing them into the register, preparing customer receipts for those orders and deliveries.
  • Working to increase sales through suggestive selling, knowledge of product, etc.

Night Shift Pastry Chef or Baker

Job Type: Full-time or part-time.  Overnight shifts are new to Truffles, so shifts are flexible and open to negotiation.  We are looking for night shift bakers to work beginning November 1st through December 23rd.  This position could be continued afterward for the right person.

Truffles Bakery has immediate openings for professionals interested in working part-time or full-time in our Avon bakery, which provides all baked goods for both locations. 

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of recipes for next day's baking.
  • Preparation of cookies from scratch recipes.
  • Preparation of muffins, coffeecakes, cupcakes, etc. to set up for the next day’s production.
  • Sheeting pie dough, assembling pies for next day's baking.
  • Rolling out doughs for holiday cookies.
  • Assist other bakers in keeping the bakery clean and organized.

Bakery Staff

Truffles Bakery is looking for someone to work in the bakery making muffins, cakes and cookies, stocking the case, etc., on weekday mornings (4am-9am) or afternoons (1pm-5pm). Based upon experience, we have different opportunities available. Applicants may apply for weekday positions, weekend positions or both. These job positions offer great experience to anyone enrolled in or considering a culinary program.

Delivery/Stockperson

Truffles in Avon is looking for a delivery/stockperson. Early morning hours, 6am-12noon, Monday through Friday, 2-5 days per week. This job would be ideally combined for stock and delivery, but could be split into two separate jobs if necessary, for the right applicants.

Responsibilities:

• Delivery of baked goods (in company van) from Avon bakery to Farmington store (two runs: 6:15am and 9:15am)
• Delivery of breakfast and lunch catering orders (in company van), as needed.
• Receiving incoming food, beverage and paper orders, checking in the deliveries and putting away the orders.
• Rotating of stock as new orders come in.
• Keeping walk-ins and refrigeration clean and organized.
• Routine cleaning of various areas, following our daily/weekly/monthly schedules
• Routine organization of paper goods and inventory items.

Skill Requirements:

• Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record (copy of record and license must be provided).
• Organizational skills.
• Must be punctual.
• Must have a good sense of humor & a cheerful outlook.
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
• Work well in a fast-paced environment.
• Must have excellent personal hygiene.
